About Utah Nintendo Community

Utah Nintendo Community (UNC) (formally Utah 3DS StreetPass) is a local Nintendo and video game fan community created by Utah gamers. After Nintendo held their Nintendo 3DS StreetPass Day on June 25, 2011, a few of the people in attendance decided to form Utah 3DS StreetPass to hold events where members could hold regular Street Pass Events in Utah once, or even twice a month in the Salt Lake City area. Since then, the group has put on over 50 events in the Salt Lake Area. On March 24, 2017, the staff officially changed the name of the group from Utah 3DS StreetPass to the Utah Nintendo Community.

Utah 3DS was created to help gamers get the most out of their Nintendo 3DS system and games by holding regular, free events in a friendly environment that help attendees make friends and have fun with other local members. With the launch of the Wii U, the group expanded to holding events around Nintendo Wii U games, and later, the Utah Nintendo Community Facebook group (formally the Utah 3DS Gaming Corner) was created as a place for members of Utah Nintendo Community and fans of Nintendo to connect, chat, and find people to play games with.

UNC strives to support not only local gamers but gamers across the US through their weekly Nintendo and video game podcast, GAME & LISTEN focused on weekly news and discussion involving the House of Mario. You can listen to the show live every Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 p.m. mountain standard time, or as a downloadable podcast.

Members of UNC have volunteered their time and energy to put on some of the most successful Super Smash Bros. tournaments in Utah for Salt Lake Comic Con. UNC hosted the Smash Comic Con 2014 with Gamer’s Abbey and had a successful tournament with nearly 120 people competing in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Brawl, and Project M tournaments.
