Utah Nintendo Community Extra Life Game Day Stream – 11.04.2017

We are happy to announce that Utah Nintendo Community will be participating in Extra Life’s Game Day on Saturday, November 4, 2017 (tomorrow)! 100% of all donations sent through our page on Extra-Life.org will go to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. This is Utah Nintendo Community’s first time participating in Game Day and Extra Life as a whole. Our goal is to reach $400 on our first game day, and we need help from our awesome and generous community to help us reach our goal. This is the perfect way for our community to give back to an amazing local cause!

We will be starting our stream tomorrow at 10:00 AM MT. You can watch the stream at http://www.twitch.tv/UtahNintendo. We have our stream set up so that when anyone donates to our Extra Life profile, an alert will pop-up on screen so that you can be recognized. You can also personalize your donations with a small message that will show up on stream that we will read.

You don’t have to wait for the stream, you can donate right now! Click here to go to our donation pagehttps://goo.gl/HiiJhp. If you donate before the stream or while we are on a break between games, we will read your donation before we start our next game. If you don’t want to have your name listed, you can also list your donation as “anonymous.” While there are recommended donation amounts, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and donation however much you’d like, even if it’s only $1. Every little bit counts!

Our schedule of games isn’t set quite yet, but we have a few games that we’re thinking of playing, mostly funny, local competitive games that should be entertaining to watch like Mario Party, Donkey Konga, 1 2 Switch, as well as some tough challenges, like trying to get to 200% difficulty in Splatoon 2 Salmon Run. If you have a game that you think we should play please recommend it to us!

We are excited to get underway

Super Mario Odyssey Sets Records Around the World

While it’s not too surprising that Nintendo’s newest entry in the Mario franchise is a success, Nintendo has announced today that in the last 5 days Super Mario Odyssey has sold 1.1 million units in the U.S. alone, making it the fastest-selling Super Mario game, which beats out even the hugely popular New Super Mario Bros. Wii game. Nintendo of Europe also announced via Twitter that the game is also the fastest selling Super Mario game in Europe.

Earlier this week it revealed that after 3 days, Super Mario Odyssey had sold over 500,000 game cards and download cards at retail stores (which doesn’t include purchases straight from the Nintendo eShop), making it the best 1st-week sales for a 3D Mario game in that region.

On Metacritic, Super Mario Odyssey currently has an average review score of 97 based on 85 critic reviews, barely beating out The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the best-reviewed game of the year, and the best-reviewed game on any system in the last 3 years.

What do you think of Super Mario Odyssey? Are you surprised by its success?
